DRIVERS struggled to find car park spaces in the city centre at the launch of the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre.

The council has given advice on where to park and how to avoid getting stuck in queues.

This weekend, Worcestershire County Council will host a park and ride from County Hall.

Worcester City Council is urging people to check the website before setting off to see which car parks are busy.

Another way to check the availability of selected car parks could be through the online parking app Ringo.

A spokesperson for Worcester City Council said: "We’re delighted that Worcester’s Victorian Christmas Fayre is proving as popular as ever this year with both residents and tourists -  it’s great to see the city centre so full of people enjoying the event.

"Worcester City Council has 14 car parks in and around the city and with so many people visiting the city, they are getting busy.

"We’d advise visitors arriving by car to go to www.worcester.gov.uk/parking/parking-sites for information on our car park locations."

However, traders were delighted at the sight of large crowds in flocking to the city centre on the first day of the Christmas Fayre.

Festive shoppers were browsing through the various stalls and food options from independent traders from Worcester and further afield.

And despite the cost of living crisis, many stalls were cashing in plenty of sales and were anticipating a busy weekend.
