SHOPPERS were left in hysterics when they realised a supermarket giant reduced the price of a branded whiskey by just 1p.

In the cost of living crisis, everyone is looking for new ways to save a little bit of money and love to find a bargain.

Tips and tricks are often shared online - but one Worcestershire supermarket's price reduction left some shoppers completely baffled.

Morrison's in St Andrew's Square, Droitwich, left shoppers in hysterics when they realised they had reduced the cost of Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey by just one penny.

Originally retailing at £17, shoppers did not shy away from airing what they thought about the new 'bargain' price.

A shopper posted a picture of the bottle of alcohol with the distinctive yellow reduced sticker on Droitwich Spotted.

She said: "Just want to thank Morrisons for such a fantastic reduction of 1pence on their jack daniels !! What a joke!!"

Other bargain hunters found the deal hilarious and one optimistic shopper said: "When most items are going up by leaps and bounds, any reduction should be applauded."

While another said: "Always worth a close look at offer labels, I’ve seen plenty where the product on offer is actually not the cheapest way to buy it but the shiny label gets it bought."

A third commenter said: "Every penny counts. I’m sure someone once said that."

"Better than nothing, don’t be ungrateful," said one Facebook user.

Another Facebook user added: "You would soon moan if it was a penny more expensive."

Usually, bargain hunters clamour for the yellow stickered products in supermarkets - with some shops having to put barriers around staff to protect them from eager shoppers.

Keen and clued-up shoppers will even time their visits to the supermarket to coincide with yellow stickered items being put on shelves.

In the meantime, Tesco Express is set to open on Worcester's High Street in the former HMV which is currently a bargain shop.

The supermarket giant recently submitted a new application to sell alcohol at the new location between 6am and midnight every day.

The application is also for 'late night refreshment' every day between 11pm and midnight.
