THE shocking moment vandals throw bricks through the windows of a pub in Worcester has been caught on camera.

Vandals targeted The New Chequers pub, on Astwood Road, in the early hours of the morning on Sunday (November 20).

The pub's windows will now have to be replaced following the attack.

CCTV footage captures the moment when two people throw bricks through the windows of the pub before quickly running away from the scene.

Staff from the pub said the vandals struck at 6.20am according to the CCTV footage.

Zara Clelland, one of the owners of New Chequers, said that significant damage was caused during the incident.

She said: "Whole parts of the windows now need replacing as a result of this.

"What it seems the two people in the CCTV footage did was come down from Astwood Road and then head towards Tintern Avenue.

"At the beginning of the video, they are sat on a step, which they were sat on for at least ten minutes before they did what they did."

She has appealed for people to get in touch with police if they have any information about the attack.

The landlady added: "If anyone recognises them or has any information on who it was your help would be appreciated."

There has been no obvious reason for the attack and the vandals did not attempt to steal anything from the pub or break in.

West Mercia Police informed the Worcester News they had not received a report of the incident.

Current owners Miss Clelland and Lee Payne have been at the helm of the Astwood Road pub for the past five years.

The pub has distinctive decor inside with landlord Mr Payne is responsible for the interior having spent 30 years collecting 'retro' items.
