150 stalls, music and fairground rides are set to feature at this year's Victorian Christmas Fayre.

Worcester City Council has confirmed the popular festive event is set to be held from Thursday, December 1 to Sunday, December 4, with dozens of stalls filling the city's streets.

The event is now celebrating its 30-year anniversary and regularly attracts over 150,000 people across the four days, and bringing an estimated £7 million to the local economy based on city council estimations.

Seasonal stalls will be found in High Street, Cathedral Square, Pump Street, New Street, Cornmarket and The Shambles.

The Shambles has never previously featured stalls for the event before.

There will be fairground rides in the Cornmarket car park and Lower Broad Street, which will be funded by Worcester BID.

Stilt-walkers and appearances from Victorian fiction characters including Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson, and Ebenezer Scrooge from the Charles Dickens classic 'A Christmas Carol' will also be in attendance.

Cllr Adrian Gregson, mayor of Worcester, said: “The Victorian Fayre always brings a touch of festive magic to Worcester’s streets and we can’t wait to once again welcome thousands of visitors to enjoy one of the highlights of the Christmas calendar.

“Many of the gifts on sale at the Fayre’s stalls are unique items made by local craftspeople – so if you’re after a present that no one else will have, Worcester is the place to be from Thursday to Sunday.

"And the icing on the cake is the great fun-packed programme of street entertainment for all the family to enjoy.”

The event begins with the traditional official opening ceremony on the evening of Thursday, December 1.
