A CITY centre restaurant is set to reopen with new owners after being closed for nine months due to flooding.

The Old Rectifying House will soon be back open and serving customers, with a new manager at the helm.

The distinctive black and white building, on North Parade, will open as a Turkish-Mediterranean fine dining restaurant next month.

Ten jobs have been created by the restaurant reopening.

After closing in February of this year due to flooding, The Old Rec was listed for sale by AMT Commercial.

The riverside, heritage listed, property is now owned by Marv Capital LLP, who have wished Archie Serin, an experienced restaurateur, well in his new venture.

A spokesperson said: “As property owner of The Old Rectifying House - the local heritage listed, riverside conservation zone building on North Parade - we take pleasure in informing you that a new restaurant is opening here.

“Archie Serin is a highly experienced restaurateur.

“He is opening a Turkish-Mediterranean fine dining restaurant which will be a welcome addition to Worcester's culinary scene.

“Archie has taken a bold step in these economic uncertain times providing employment to ten staff and supporting the local supply chain.”

The Old Rectifying House has been victim to multiple floods in recent years.

In 2020 the landmark city restaurant closed for six months after being devastated by huge floods and the coronavirus.

Then owner Matt Denwood said at the time: “The flood was obviously difficult in itself but the water stayed in for a very long time.

“The water was very high for three weeks or so and then getting people in to do any kind of work was difficult because of Covid. It all kind of elongated and stretched out really.

“The flooding damage was worse than 2007 and it was by far the worst we have ever had here.”

The Old Rec was then hit by flooding again in February of this year and has not opened since.
