Worcester’s pubs are already booking up ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Gareth Southgate’s England will look to bring football home when they travel to Qatar later this month.
But anyone wanting to catch the action at one of the city’s boozers will want to act quick as seats are already being snatched up.
With that in mind, we’ve picked out just a few of the places in Worcester where you can watch the world’s best footballers compete for the grandest prize there is, the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Alma Tavern
First up we have the Alma Tavern, ran by Jon Dean and Will Bradley.
Crowned Worcester News Best Pub 2022 earlier this year, the Droitwich Road boozer will have screens throughout, showing all 64 World Cup matches.
With a covered garden area, Mr Dean has little concern over the tournament being held in the winter.
“The weather we had for the Euros was pretty wet anyways and the atmosphere for that was fantastic, so we’re expecting to see the same again,” he said.
Mr Dean added that pre-booking is recommended and that there has already been a lot of interest for England’s fixtures.
The Brewers Arms
The Brewers Arms on Comer Road is looking forward to another international football tournament, having seen crowds grow and grow throughout last year’s Euros.
With five TVs, including two in the garden, there will be football everywhere you look and you won’t even have to book.
Families are welcome and anyone looking for a bite to eat can bring along a takeaway or pop next door to St John’s Fish Bar.
“We've been here for 15 years now and tournaments are always good,” said landlord Mark Daniels.
Mode Sports Bar & Grill
Open to over 18s only, the Angel Place venue is planning to have a live DJ and drink offers for all of the Three Lions’ fixtures, which will be shown across 22 TVs and two large projector screens.
For the England v Wales game on Friday, November 25, and the knockout stages of the competition, there are plans to open Tramps Nightclub to create a fan zone.
Manager Nathan Tinker said: “During this World Cup, Mode will once again be the heartbeat of the community supporting England.
“We are expecting fantastic support as always and don't expect the winter fixtures to affect attendance at all.
“We expect lots of people to be calling in sick or taking half days as nobody wants to miss England’s first game on Monday 21 at 1pm."
He added: “We expect everyone to drink responsibly and we ask all customers to show respect.
“Let's celebrate this festival of football in the right way and most importantly, come on England - it's coming home!”
You can book your table now here.
Craft Inn
Last but not least, the Craft Inn on Foregate Screen will be showing all of England's matches on a big projector screen.
Fans are welcome to show up on the day or book ahead, which will guarantee a seat and a £10 bar tab.
"We’ve had a few bookings already and they’re going fast so we’re really looking forward to it." said the bar's general manager.
"Should be a really fun month for the hospitality industry."
