POLICE are warning people not to turn up to Crowle Bonfire night without a ticket after the 'utter carnage' caused last year.

Tickets for Crowle's bonfire display are sold out and organisers are urging people to be sensible when travelling to avoid being caught in hour-long traffic jams like last year.

Police have warned about the event in hopes that gridlock traffic will be avoided this year.

Some details are being kept under wraps and ticket holders will receive an email detailing parking and the website which gives timings for the event.

The firework display will take place on Saturday, November 5 at Boden's Field at the bottom of Froxmere Road.

The gate will open for ticketholders at 6pm with the bonfire being lit at 6.30pm and the firework display starting at 7pm.

Last year, countless families were angered and disappointed when they missed the event entirely because they got stuck in a traffic jam.

Hopeful attendees, who had bought prepaid tickets to the event, were left sitting in gridlock traffic for up to an hour and a half.

Rich Bradley and his family were one of many that were left disappointed after getting caught up in the backlogs.

He was part of a larger group of four separate families, with ten children between them.

They each paid £13.50 for family tickets from 'Event Brite' and say they set off in plenty of time for the display.

"I’ve never seen anything like it in Worcester," he said.

"The problem was that unbeknown to us, the organisers had advertised the event as 'pay on the gate' when it should’ve been a ticket-only event, given the location. It was absolute chaos.

"There were hundreds upon hundreds of cars blocking the lanes from every direction.

"We couldn’t get anywhere near the entrance and be told by stewards that the event had reached full capacity, even though so many families had purchased tickets and were sat trapped in their cars for hours, unable to park up anywhere, and unable even to turn around.

"Like so many other families, our children missed out on seeing the fireworks and were left very upset."
