A HUSBAND and wife who founded a local business together have been awarded a national prize for their creative flair for stonemasonry.
The pair who run Stonemasons of Worcester were recognised for their hard work at the National Cemetary of the Year Awards.
The Memorial Awareness Board (MAB) has been promoting and organising the Cemetery of the Year Awards for nearly 20 years.
Stonemasons of Worcester, based on New Street in Worcester's city centre, won a Silver Award in the 2022 ‘British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons’ (BRAMM) sponsored, Memorial Design Category of the National Competition.
They competed against entries from all over the UK and were presented with a BRAMM Silver Award Certificate.
Tom Adams from Stonemasons of Worcester said: “This award is wonderful recognition for our talented team, it acknowledges their creative prowess and skill to create something as beautiful as Billy’s memorial.
"We are all extremely proud.”
Philip Potts of the Memorial Awareness Board said: “The Memorial Design Award is a relatively new category in the CYA competition and open to any Memorial already erected in a Cemetery or Churchyard within the last 5 years.

"The entries were marked on their innovation, personalisation and originality by a team from BRAMM who sponsored this Category.
"The Awards are an excellent opportunity to reward and demonstrate the central role Memorial Masons and Cemeteries can play in the community.
Cemeteries and Churchyards provide places of peaceful contemplation and beauty, as well as their ecological importance”
