THERE was a large gathering at a city park to commemorate the First World War battle, the Battle of Gheluvelt.
The commemoration ceremony took place in Gheluvelt Park, named in honour of those who fought and fell in the battle.
The ceremony on Sunday morning, (October 30), was organised by the Worcester Branch of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regimental Association.
The event included the last post, a minute's silence, and a singing of the National Anthem.
During the ceremony, Reverend Colin Butler MBE said: "Let us pray for those who died at this time 108 years ago, for those who mourned them, and are now themselves departed, for all involved in the Battle of Gheluvelt, now departed."

Councillor Adrian Gregson, mayor of Worcester, said: "Thank you all for coming, commemorating the Battle of Gheluvelt and the many who died there.
"We recognise we are in Gheluvelt Park, named after that battle which was opened in 1922.
"We were privileged earlier in the year to have a commemoration of the centenary of the park opening."
The battle helped turn the tide of the First World War during one of the British Army's darkest hours.
During the engagement 187 men, a third of the battalion's remaining strength, were killed or wounded.
