A WOMAN has been banned from getting behind the wheel by magistrates after they heard she crashed after drink driving.
Ruth Davies appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court and admitted driving with excess alcohol.
Prosecutor Owen Beale told the court the 49-year-old crashed her Vauxhall Zafira into the back of the vehicle in front of her at 5pm on May 12 this year, on the A38 in Martin Hussingtree near Droitwich.
The prosecutor said police arrested her and the evidential reading Davies gave at Worcester Police Station was 62mcg in 100ml of breath - the legal limit being 35mcg.
Mr Beale added the defendant had no previous convictions.
Belinda Ariss, defending, said Davies had taken her eye off the road "momentarily" that had led to the crash.
Mrs Ariss explained Davies had drunk a bottle of wine the night before and thought the following afternoon she was fine to drive.
"She is extremely sorry," Mrs Ariss added.

Michelle Edwards, chairman of the magistrates bench, said magistrates had recognised the crash had been an "aggravating feature" in the offence, disqualifying her for 18 months.
She was offered the chance to take the drink drive awareness course, that would reduce her ban.
Davies was fined £484, and ordered to pay costs of £135 and victim surcharge of £48.
Magistrates accepted an offer for Davies, of Dormston Lane, Inkberrow, to pay the total, £667, in full within 28 days.
The case was heard at the court on Thursday, (October 27).
