THE latest hearing of a case of a man who is accused of assault by beating a prison officer has been held at Worcester Crown Court.
Jordan Bailey-Mascoll is accused of assault by beating an emergency worker, a prison officer, at the high-security HMP Long Lartin on September 23 last year.
Serving prisoner Bailey-Mascoll failed to appear over videolink from HMP Whitemoor to the court, the court clerk explaining the link had not been successful.
Judge Martin Jackson suggested it could be an issue at the prison that had meant Bailey-Mascoll had not been able to appear on the link to the court, or to barrister Will Durrands for a conference prior to the hearing.

Mr Durrrands told the court that a fitness to plead issue remained outstanding, suggesting the case will need to be adjourned.
Timothy Sapwell, prosecuting, said he was satified the case was on track - a trial date for December 5 having already been set.
Judge Jackson set the next hearing of the case, where the 30-year-old could potentially enter a plea, for November 8.
We previously reported that during the August hearing of the case a court clerk told Bailey-Mascoll to take his feet off a desk prior to the judge entering the courtroom.
When Judge Martin Jackson entered and began the hearing Bailey-Mascoll had still not taken his feet off the desk - but the judge made no comment.
