PLANS have been submitted to alter a former bargain shop into a supermarket in Worcester city centre.
Tesco Express will be opening at the site of The Pound Shop which closed its doors for good on Saturday (October 15).
A planning application submitted on behalf of Tesco Express to Worcester City Council has asked for permission to install three fascia signs, a projecting sign, frosting and vinyl.
The application was submitted on Friday, September 30, with a consultation period set to take place from Thursday (October 20) until Wednesday, November 2.

The supermarket giant previously submitted another application to sell alcohol at the new location between 6am and midnight every day.
The application was also for late night refreshment every day between 11pm and midnight.
Towards the end of September, The Pound Shop was displaying "closing down sale" signs in its windows.
The signs in the shop windows read: "Closing down sale" and "Everything must go".
Customers were able to get their hands on heavily discounted items as the bargain shop prepared to close.
The Pound Shop first opened in Worcester in October 2021 and saw queues of people lining up to be the first through the doors.
