A DRUNK man is now behind bars after going on a rampage, stealing and assaulting people in Worcester city centre.
Dale Coldicot appeared via videolink from HMP Hewell to Worcester Crown Court, a judge telling him immediate custody was the only suitable sentence for his case.
At the start of the hearing on Monday, (October 10), the dad-of-two admitted attempted robbery, affray and theft.
Coldicot also denied assault by beating but Neil Davis, defending, then spoke of his confusion expecting Coldicot to admit the charge.
After Coldicot said he "wanted it over with today" the charge was put to him again, changing his plea to guilty on that count as well.
Aimee Parkes, prosecuting, said Coldicot had gone into Holland & Barrett in Mealcheapen Street at around 5pm on September 7.
The prosecutor said a staff member's attention was drawn to Coldicot who had a bottle of alcohol in his hand and was behaving strangely, including making random comments.
"Two people were in the store who were intimidated," Miss Parkes said.
"The defendant left walking off to The Shambles."
Coldicot then went up behind another victim in the street, grabbing her handbag.
Miss Parkes said the victim had felt scared but held onto the handle, with a tug-of-war taking place.
After letting go Coldicot then left, returning to Holland & Barrett with the staff member noting he was more "angry and aggressive".
Miss Parkes said: "As she went to close the shop door she saw three members of the public who appeared scared of this defendant.
"She allowed the females inside (to hide)."
Miss Parkes said Coldicot threw a pint glass towards the door of the shop, which smashed.
While trying to close the door Coldicot then charged towards it, pushing it with full force.
The prosecutor said two men tried to intervene before Coldicot attacked them both and pushed them to the ground.
The victims gave personal statements speaking of being afraid and concerned for their safety while also seeing others petrified by Coldicot's behaviour.
Miss Parkes added Coldicot continued his offending by going into Aldi in Pheasant Street, stealing five bottles of alcohol worth £53.
"Officers attended, and located him in Aldi car park," the prosecutor said.
"They chased him."
Miss Parkes said before finally arresting Coldicot he tried to hide in someone's home - the resident being scared he would attack her.
Neil Davis, defending Coldicot who had 31 convictions for 52 offences, said the 33-year-old had been drinking with friends that day.
"They had supplied him a great deal of alcohol," Mr Davis said.

"He was in the city centre, and effectively has little or no recollection of what happened."
He added Coldicot, of no fixed abode but previously of Worcester, was prepared for prison and urged the judge to keep the sentence "as short as possible".
Judge Martin Jackson said a number of people had been shopping in the city centre and been scared of Coldicot's behaviour that day, praising those who tried to intervene to stop him.
The judge jailed Coldicot for 18 months.
