A YELLOW helicopter has been spotted flying over Worcester today (Tuesday). 

The disctinctive yellow helicopter can be seen flying near to Barbourne and St John's over the River Severn.

The helicopter was sent out on a routine powerline inspection.

A spokesperson from the National Grid UK said: "We carry out routine patrols, fault finding patrols and post storm patrols to ensure the network is reliable in bringing electricity to people’s homes and businesses.

"We have 5 helicopters which are employed in inspecting the 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and 132kV powerlines (approximately 92,000km worth) in the Midlands, South Wales and South West."
