A WORCESTER man has appeared in court accused of rape.
Allan Poyner entered no plea to two charges when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.
The 60-year-old is charged with rape of a woman aged 16 or over on June 29 last year in Malvern and sexual assault on a female between January 1 and February 28 last year in Malvern.
During the short hearing of the case on Thursday, (September 22), Poyner's legal representative, Jason Patel, said his client "vehemently denies the allegations".
Magistrates declined jurisdiction on the sexual assault matter, sending both charges to Worcester Crown Court.
Chairman of the magistrates bench Charles Townsend told Poyner to attend crown court on October 19.
Poyner, of May Avenue, Worcester, was given unconditional bail in the meantime.
