A TENTATIVE opening date for a long mooted multi-use games area on a Worcester housing estate has been revealed by parish councillors.
Coun Roger Knight, of St Peter's Parish Council, said the play area on land opposite Rainthorpe Avenue, near St Peter's Baptist Church, could be open within six weeks.
The flood-lit pitch and youth shelter would offer the area's youngsters somewhere to go to play basketball, football, cricket and take part in other activities.
Mr Knight said: "Having seen the depth of groundwork the workers are doing I think it is a superb job.
"We are meeting to finalise the dug out and the lighting of the youth shelter and with final agreement on landscaping we are about six weeks away from completion."
