A MAN who showed "absolute contempt" for driving laws has been banned from the roads for two years.

Dean Corbett admitted failing to provide a breath specimen, driving without a licence and having no insurance when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Police officers were called to The Butts at 2.30am on Saturday, September 8, after reports a car had collided with a van and a wall.

Witnesses reported seeing three men with two appearing to hold up the third who seemed heavily intoxicated.

Officers arrested the VW Polo's owner, Corbett, who they described as drunk, at his home but he became obstructive when asked for a breath test.

He told officers he had driven to Worcester Racecourse where he left his car but after drinking a few pints could not remember anything.

Chris Hylton, defending, said Corbett, 24, was diabetic and did not know if his actions were due to his condition which could make him behave out-of-character.

He said his diabetes could cause him to become aggressive, appear drunk and lose his memory.

However, district judge Bruce Morgan said Corbett had two previous driving disqualifications.

He added: "You have shown absolute contempt for the road traffic rules of this country."

He fined Corbett £200 and disqualified him from driving for two months.

Corbett was also fined £50 for having no insurance, £25 for having no licence and told to pay £50 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
