A WOMAN has died after suffering "severe injuries" in a crash involving two cars on a dual carriageway.

The collision happened on the A491 Bromsgrove to West Hagley road, close to the turn for Clent, at about 7.25pm yesterday.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a BASICS Emergency Doctor, the County Air Ambulance from Strensham and an incident support officer were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "When crews arrived at the dual carriageway section of road they found two cars with front end damage and a road sign that was badly damaged.

"A woman in one of the cars had suffered very severe injuries and despite all of the efforts of the ambulance staff it was unfortunately not possible to save her and she was confirmed dead at the scene.

"A man from the other car was uninjured.

"The ambulance service would like to say thank you to a doctor from Selly Oak Hospital who arrived at the scene shortly after the crash and assisted the paramedic on the response vehicle in the first few minutes of the incident."
