PARISH councillors have agreed to "press the button" and write to Worcestershire County Council over a long-running pedestrian crossings saga.
St Peter's Parish Council members will send the letter following drawn-out proposals to build crossings near Old Norton Road and Farne Avenue.
Your Worcester News reported in March the scheme had bogged down after County Hall revealed there was no money to pay for a toucan crossing for Old Norton Road while a survey revealed a Farne Avenue crossing would not satisfy safety criteria.
At this week's meeting, councillors supported writing a letter to express what chairman Ross McFarlane called the parish council's "frustration" with County Hall on the matter.
He said: "At the moment we are not going anywhere fast, so we are all agreed to escalate this and press the button."
Following a feasibility study for a new crossing at Farne Avenue, the county council ruled out the plan because of visibility issues on the St Peter's Drive bend and the speed of vehicles travelling along the road.
Coun Richard Fowler, who monitored vehicle speeds independently, said: "We need to come to agreement over costs and reasons but to be treated the way we have been is unacceptable."
