A BUSINESS festival which had to cancel has kept a promise to donate money to a charity.

The organiser of Worcestershire Festival of Business (WFB) was left 'angry and disappointed' after Sixways Stadium cancelled the event just 48 hours before it was set to go ahead.

Stuart Allen, who is the founder of the popular hashtag 'Worcestershire hour' on Twitter, said he had to urgently tell 70 business owners that the event is no longer taking place.

The event was due to take place on Thursday (September 22).

However, despite the cancellation, the organisers of WBF kept their promise to donate money to charity and have donated £500 to Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster.

Stuart Allen, festival director said: "Today, should have been a massive celebration of Worcestershire enterprise and entrepreneurship, but sadly we were robbed of that spectacle at the eleventh hour, by the chaos at Worcester Warriors.

"However, since announcing the forced cancellation, I have been overwhelmed with support from exhibitors and planned visitors.

"Despite the frustration, I wanted to ensure that our 2022 event charity, Kemp Hospice still received their donation today as promised. The money raised was from exhibitor donations which we, as organisers topped up to £500."
