A DANGEROUS BT chamber in St John's that required emergency traffic lights has been visited by repair workers.
Worcestershire County Council's Highways and Travel team said a dangerous BT chamber on Henwick Road, St John's, required emergency intervention on Saturday, September 17.
A manhole had deteriorated on the road which prompted council intervention.
Temporary traffic lights were installed to keep traffic away from the hazard until workers could attend to make safe the area safe.
Openreach visited the area yesterday (Monday) and put guarding in place in order to carry out the work.
A spokesperson for Openreach said: “We’ve been working to secure permissions to complete a non-urgent repair to a sinking manhole with a noisy cover for a number of months, with our most recent request to work refused until after October 6 due to other third party roadworks in the area.
"As the manhole now appears to have further deteriorated we’ve visited the site today (Monday).
"Guarding is in place and the area is safe so we’ll request permission to complete the works as soon as possible.”
