A Worcester cafe has been upgraded from a one-star to a four-star food hygiene rating.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) adjusted the rating of O Nosso Cafe following their recent visit on August 12, 2022.

Monica Da Silva, the owner of O Nosso Cafe, said: "The situation was a lengthy process but the rating was finally given to us due to our merit.

"From the moment we received a visit from the hygiene and health inspector at our establishment, we did everything that was asked of us and throughout the process there was understanding on both sides.

"It was undoubtedly, a considerable climb but it was fair and it was given by our merit and commitment.

"I can guarantee that no amount was paid to have this new rate - it is more than deserved."

A report of the hygiene at the cafe based on London Road found that the management of food safety was "generally satisfactory", whilst at its previous inspection on September 13, 2021 this area was deemed "major improvement necessary".

The management of food safety involves inspectors evaluating systems or checks in place ensuring that food sold or served is safe to eat, checking that there is evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

The previous report also found O Nosso Cafe's hygienic food handling and cleanliness and conditions of the building to be "generally satisfactory", however, these areas have now been evaluated as "good".

Inspectors' evaluations of hygienic food handling involve checking that the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food is handled hygienically.
