A NEW cake shop and cafe owner in St John's has revealed when she plans to open the venue.

Charlotte Hancock, the owner of Little Shop of Cake, is planning to open the doors on Saturday, September 24.

The venue is finishing renovations over the next week ready to welcome customers over the weekend.

Charlotte said: "It is very scary and new, but also so exciting. We have had a lot of interest from people passing by and popping their heads around the door for a chat.

"It is something I wanted to do for a very long time. I left my previous job at Worcester Bosch on Friday (September 16) and have been renovating alongside.

"The building has been empty for so long so people have been saying how nice it is for a new business to move in."

The St John's location has been empty since at least 2016, with Bedwardine Funeral Services moving location onto Bromyard Road.

Little Shop of Cake will also be selling a range of coffees, paninis, waffles and milkshakes, offering both takeaway and also seating options.

Mrs Hancock said she was surprised by how much space the venue had for seating when she was in the process of looking for a place to open.

She said: "I was looking for spaces for a while and thought St John's would be a lovely area.

"The inside of the building was a lot bigger than I thought which surprised me, so I bit the bullet and chose it.

"I think there will be enough space for around ten tables which is brilliant."

Mrs Hancock also praised the efforts of her family for helping her during the renovations process.

She said:" My dad has been amazing and so have the rest of the family. It has been a real team effort to get the place up and running.

"I get the keys on August 1 and we have been working hard ever since.

"I think with how difficult times are for a lot of people, a nice place to grab a cake and a hot drink is exactly what people need."
