WORCESTERSHIRE County Council is in the running to receive a top national award for its work during last year's summer floods.
The county council's marketing and communications unit has been shortlisted for the Crisis Communications category in the Chartered Institute of Public Relation's (CIPR) Excellence Awards 2008.
Marketing and communications manager Simon Trickett said: "We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the Excellence Awards, which recognise and reward best practice in public relations throughout the UK and acknowledge personal and team achievement at the highest professional level.
"We are looking forward to hearing the results of these awards and hope we will be among the winners on the night."
The county council will now be invited for an interview next month by a panel of judges comprising senior PR practitioners and experts from the business, media, marketing and advertising communities.
Winners will then be announced in September.
