PEOPLE living in Wychavon have been urged to tell the district council how dogs should be controlled in public places.
The council has recently been given new powers to deal with issues such as dog fouling and wants town and parish councils to contribute to a public consultation exercise about how dogs are controlled in public places.
Under the Clean Neighbourhood and Environment Act 2005, the Council can enforce dog control orders with fixed penalty notices or through a maximum fine of £1,000.
Coun Anna Mackison, the council's portfolio holder for the Environment, said: "We want to consider the needs of dog owners and how dogs can be exercised without unnecessary restrictions.
"But it is also important to consider parents and children - their needs are to have access to dog-free areas or where dogs are kept under stricter control, such as enclosed children's play areas."
