THE details of the second phase of a major housing development in Malvern have been agreed by district councillors.
Members of the southern area development control committee have approved the design and layout of the proposed properties on the 2.9 hectare site next to REME (Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) Copse at North Site off Leigh Sinton Road and Sayers Avenue.
That part of the development is for 65 two, three, four and five-bedroom houses which includes seven affordable rented homes.
Officers recommended the proposals should be approved.
Andrew Moody, planning officer, said: "Overall officers are satisfied that the Phase Two development will provide a high quality residential area with a sense of place and architectural identity as envisaged by the North Site development brief."
There were three letters from Malvern residents concerned that the site was being over-developed, that light pollution should be reduced, there are too few houses with solar panels, insufficient foul water disposal, views would be lost to the Malvern Hills, there could be problems with Whippets Brook and about the low number of affordable homes.
