HOSPITAL staff in Worcestershire have received a prestigious award for fighting superbugs.
The Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Worcester, has won the Infection Control Team of the Year Award 2007/08 for their work to reduce hospital acquired infections, such as MRSA and C.difficile.
The awards are sponsored by international microbiology specialists Oxoid and were announced yesterday at a trust board meeting at The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
Chief executive John Rostill said: "This is an outstanding achievement and is well deserved recognition for the teams efforts in raising awareness of infection prevention and control across the trust."
