A SCHEME to build 14 new affordable homes in a Worcestershire village, which attracted strong opposition from local residents, has been withdrawn.
Housing association West Mercia Housing Ltd withdrew its application for the new properties on part of a field next to St Gabriel's C of E Primary School on Welland Road, which was due to be discussed by Malvern Hills District Council southern area development control committee.
Fifty one letters, mainly objections, were sent to the district council but planning officers were recommending the development outside the village settlement boundary should be approved.
Villagers were concerned about a range of issues including road safety, flooding, parking, the design of the development, loss of trees and the effects on wildlife, increased pressure on community facilities and extra carbon emissions.
