UPLIFTING British music has helped family and friends celebrate the life of a Worcestershire judge.
The memorial concert to district judge Eric Dickinson, who died in last year's summer floods, took place at Worcester Cathedral on Friday.
The English Symphony Orchestra performed rousing renditions of Mr Dickinson's favourite pieces. Led by composer Vernon Handley, the Worcestershire-based orchestra played Frederick Delius's On Hearing The First Cuckoo In Spring, George Butterworth's A Shropshire Lad, and Sir Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations, among others.
A specially-comissioned portrait of Mr Dickinson, who lived in Leigh, near Malvern, was unveiled at the concert by John Alexander, president of Worcestershire Law Society.
Mr Dickinson, a county court judge for 23 years and solicitor with Harrison Clark, was a founding member of the Rotary club of Worcester Severn and stalwart of St Andrew's Methodist Church, Worcester.
He was vice-chairman of Leigh and Bransford parish council, a member of amateur dramatic group the Lychgate Players and twice secretary of the Three Choirs Festival and was a former chairman of South Worcestershire Victim Support Service.
