A MAN who stole stationery and tried to steal games will have to wait until next month for sentence.

Christopher Davies, 22, stole ink cartridges from WHSmiths in Bridge Street, Evesham, before trying to take security tags off games in a nearby store.

When police searched him he was also found to have a class C drug, called Subutex, which he admitted was not prescribed to him but he hoped to use to help his heroin addiction.

Davies, of Cheltenham Road, Evesham, had admitted the offences which happened in November, and been given a deferred sentence but failed to turn up at court on Wednesday, April 16.

Richard Taylor, defending, said Davies, who appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court in custody, had struggled over the last few months because he had spent some time sleeping rough.

He had argued with his stepfather and not been able to live at home but now had met a woman and was keen to give up drugs.

Magistrates told Davies to return to court on Thursday, May 15 for sentence.
