The April meeting turned out to be a big surprise for members.
As we entered the village hall we were met with a lovely array of tables which were set for dinner.
We had been told the previous month not to eat any tea before attending the April meeting, but most of us thought that meant we would be getting a sandwich and cake for our supper.
The tables looked lovely, set with the new tablecloths made and donated by Jo.
During the business, which was kept to a minimum so that we could enjoy our food, we were told about a fund-raiser quiz.
We were also told that the broken clock above the fireplace in the village hall is to be replaced.
The members' night committee said that they had decided to spoil us by cooking a meal because they knew we were fond of food.
It was very enjoyable to be sat having a chat with friends while being served with stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon with homemade chips and salad.
This was followed by a variety of puddings.
Jean, Madeline, Jo and Val must have spent all day in the hall doing the preparation and it was much appreciated by us all.
When we had finished our food we were entertained by Mike James, who played a number of old records ranging from Doris Day and George Formby to Elvis.
It was a trip down memory lane for a lot of our members.
We left the hall replenished after a very enjoyable evening.
