A PLAQUE dedicated to a "pillar of amateur theatre" has been unveiled.
The memorial to Liz Brownridge, who died unexpectedly aged 59 after suffering a heart attack while on holiday in Portugal in August last year, was unveiled at Worcester's Swan Theatre, in The Moors.
Mrs Brownridge - a talented singer, dancer, actress and member of Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS) for 35 years - spent many years at the theatre.
During the moving ceremony, Worcester Live director Chris Jaeger said: "Liz was a pillar of amateur theatre in Worcester for many, many years.
"When she directed, all those years of experience and know-how gave her a sure touch. I never saw a production of Liz's that wasn't slick, exciting and professional, and which I didn't admire."
He spoke of Mrs Brownridge's enthusiasm for amateur acting and dedicated to the Swan Theatre.
"This is a bitter-sweet moment," said Mr Jaeger.
"I wish Liz was here with us - I am sure her spirit is."
Mrs Brownridge, who was also a member of Kays Theatre Company, had been elected president of WODS five months before her death.
