TALENTED 10-year-old Charlie Green stole the show with an amazing display on TV's Britain's Got Talent.

Droitwich's most precocious singer guaranteed himself a place in the nation's hearts after a sparkling performance of the Frank Sinatra swing classic Summer Rain on the ITV talent show on Saturday night.

Celebrity judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan were genuinely bowled over by the Westacre Middle School pupil's striking voice and instant star quality, with an emotional Amanda telling him he could well go all the way.

"I'll tell you now, I predict you could win this show," she told the youngster, before a TV audience of millions.

Hit-maker Simon said Charlie's performance was "fantastic" and described him as "a little star", while journalist Piers called the 10-year-old "a brilliant singer".

Charlie, who lives with his mum and dad on Coppice Way in Droitwich, has been singing since the age of three. He made local headlines last year following the success of his debut single, Hands Around the World, which was released at Christmas to raise money for a young friend who suffers from muscular dystrophy.

But now Charlie is becoming a star on a national stage, receiving a standing ovation from the TV audience last night and becoming an instant hit on YouTube, where his performance has already received thousands of hits.

Yesterday his delighted father Roger told your Worcester News: "I'm not being biased - he did fantastically well.

"I'm so proud of him. I've been in the music business all my life and I know how it works. With all the exposure television gives these days I was aware this could happen, but it's still been unbelievable really.

"We've had the national papers on the phone, we've been doing interviews on the radio... It was great to hear the audience chanting Charlie's name, and all the comments from the judges were really good. He must have a decent chance of making the semi-finals now."

The judges will decide during the Deliberation Day episode whether to send Charlie through to the semi-finals, which are broadcast live in the week commencing Monday, May 26.
