A CITY councillor is to stand down at the next election so she can spend more time caring for her elderly mother.
After four years in local government Pam Clayton will not stand again when local elections are held in May, but she has vowed to continue helping people in the community.
"I shall miss my job and the people but I think by carrying on in a less demanding way I can still do something useful," she said.
The 67-year-old Labour councillor for Warndon said she hopes her successor will continue to campaign for un-finished projects in the area, including the pedestrian crossing in Windermere Drive and better playground facilities "I hope my successor can finish off things I have got rolling, one I am really fighting for is youth facilities," she said.
Mrs Clayton, who lives in Battenhall Road, Worcester, will continue as a councillor until elections on Thursday, May 1. Standing for her seat will be Alan Amos for Labour and Robert Campbell for Conservative.
