A CHARITY raffle for a new car has sold tens of thousands of tickets and produced one very happy winner.

Charity workers from St Richard's Hospice were thrilled to sell more than £39,700 worth of tickets for their annual raffle with a Honda Jazz as the star prize.

Lucky winner Elizabeth Hill, of Bevere, Worcester, won the car with ticket number 033860.

Her ticket was drawn by Dale Rasmussen, who plays centre for Worcester Warriors rugby club.

St Richard's fund-raiser Joanna Street said: "She was absolutely over the moon and still in a bit of shock."

She added: "We have been bowled over with the response from the community, many of whom have been only too willing to dip into their pockets for a £1 ticket."

She also thanked Startin Honda Worcester and Hewett Recruitment for their support.

Funds raised by the raffle, which has been held every year for seven years, will go towards the Wildwood Drive hospice's work with 1,800 patients and families each year.
