A COMPASSIONATE woman has received an award for outstanding acts of kindness' towards her neighbour.

Geraldine Fowler, of Woodmancote, Warndon, was nominated for the Good Neighbour Award by her friend Kim Aingel after helping to care for Miss Angiel's mother for several years.

Mrs Fowler, aged 44, was shocked after receiving the news she had been included in the Beth Johnson Housing Association's newsletter along with other residents.

"I was completely taken aback, I didn't know anything about it until Kim came round and asked for my autograph!," she said.

The friends have lived next door to each other for the last seven years, but only became close when Miss Aingel's mother became seriously ill.

Mrs Fowler helped out her neighbour by preparing meals and carrying out dog sitting duties; she also offered a shoulder to cry on' for her neighbour, Miss Aingel, following her mothers death.

"I didn't think it was out of the ordinary, she treated me like a sister and I've just tried to do the same," said Mrs Fowler.

A £25 gift certificate for Marks & Spencer stores was awarded to Mrs Fowler by the Midlands-based housing organisation which has its head office in Worcester.
