COCOA the llama is on the road to recovery after being attacked by a dog.
The elderly animal, who suffers from arthritic legs, needed stitches after the incident. He is now almost back to full health and has taken his place back in the field at Suckley. His owner Christine Grieve said: "The vet came back on Friday and other than some nasty scars he seems to be recovering. They're always a bit wary of people but even more so now." Llamas do a good job in protecting lambs from such menaces as stray dogs and foxes, but due to Cocoa's age, he found it difficult to defend himself from attack. A sign notifying dog walkers of llamas in the field was stolen earlier in the year and Mrs Grieves found a broken dog lead on the ground the morning after the attack.
