A STUDENT who headbutted another man in a Worcester club has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds in compensation to his victim.

Davie Webb was in Bushwackers during the early hours of Friday, January 18, when he had a minor verbal altercation with another man who had knocked into him.

As the man went to walk away Webb headbutted him leaving him with a broken tooth needing dental treatment.

Twenty-two-year-old Webb, of Shepherds Court, Droitwich, admitted assault when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court today.

Emma Lille, prosecuting, said police officers found Webb walking down the street with a cut on his forehead. The cut needed gluing at Worcestershire Royal Hospital and when officers interviewed him he said he could not remember anything.

Nick Roberts, defending, said: "It is totally out-of-character, he is not a drinker or a fighter, he clearly over-stepped the mark.

"He accepts what he did was wrong and he was embarrassed and ashamed.

"After the incident he referred himself to the alcohol referral scheme."

Webb was ordered to pay his victim £585.95 compensation and was made the subject of a 12 month community order with an unpaid work requirement of 100 hours.

He was also ordered to pay £60 costs.
