A REGULAR train user who was given a parking ticket at Shrub Hill station despite owning a permit has warned others to be careful where they park.
The woman, who does not wish to be named, but says she is a Worcester resident and commutes into Birming-ham every working day, said she was shocked to find the ticket on her car.
Despite having parked in almost the same spot - which is not an official space - at the station, the woman said she was told by members of station staff it was fine for her to park there.
She added: "After raising this with staff at the station many months ago I was shown several areas within the car park which I was informed were fine to park in as they did not cause an obstruction or danger to other users of the car park."
However, she was shocked to discover a ticket, issued by London Midland parking which also uses the name Meteor Parking, on her car.
"I find this to be amazing, not only due to the fact that I am a paying customer but because the Meteor parking attendants have never had a problem with my parking in that area on their previous visits to the car park.
"A couple of cars around me were also decorated with the dreaded little yellow packets of doom. A few days ago, I met someone else in the car park who has had three tickets."
The woman appealed and was successful in getting her fine revoked. However, she has now decided to cancel her permit, saying she would rather walk.
"I am outraged that they are doing this and would like to warn other people before they find themselves in the same position if they haven't already." A spokesman for London Midland said: "We are looking to add an additional 60 spaces to the site by next April."
A spokesman for First Great Western which runs the station said staff had advised passengers in good faith. "We apologise to anyone affected by this change and we advise car park users to abide by the parking directions," he added.
