A MOBILE phone theft from a city centre restaurant is being investigated by West Mercia Police.

Police confirmed that after receiving reports of a mobile phone theft from Tortugas, on Friar Street, they are now looking into the theft.

CCTV from the owners was sent to the police as well, which is being investigated.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Around 12.30pm on Friday 9 September we received reports of a mobile phone theft from Tortugas restaurant on Friar Street, Worcester.

"CCTV footage has been received and our investigations are ongoing."

It is understood that the phone belonged to one of the restaurant's staff members and was allegedly stolen from the top of a bar whilst the owner went to fetch menus.
