Hundreds lined the streets to view the historic moment that Worcestershire held its proclamation of King Charles III.

Mother and daughter, Pat and Sophie Gething, were touched to be able to see the event unfold outside the Guildhall.

Sophie Gething said: "I felt really emotional singing God save the King for the first time.

"It brought a tear to my eye. I didn't realise how much of a royalist I was until now."

Her Mum, Pat Gething, said: "This brought back a lot of memories for me.

"I was six when she came to the throne and she has been a constant throughout my life.

"Today is a part of history and I wanted my daughter to be here to experience it.

"My mother-in-law met the Queen in 1977 because she was the mayor of Worcester, her name was Dorothy Gething.

"This is a tradition that's full of history and memories.

"We've cried a lot over the last few days."

Lorna Goulding said: "Everything feels weird at the moment. It's a transient period."

"I remember my brother came in and turned on the radio and mournful music was playing. They announced that the King had died and said 'Long live the Queen.'"

Gordon Stanley added: "I watched the coronation on a 10-inch television screen and I remember that so many people went out and bought their first televisions specifically to watch it."

Jane Field said: "Today is a truly momentous occasion.

"So much will change now. We won't have a Queen's speech anymore, it will be a King's speech.
