"I saw the security tags still on the bottles of alcohol he was carrying, I think they were whiskey.
"Aldi must have called the police because they were already there, I was sitting in my car so I flashed my car lights at them to signal where he was.
The man ran towards Elim Worcester Church but the witness said he ran into a dead-end and tried to leap over a wall.
The bystander added: "I don't think he knew it was a dead-end and the police were waiting on the other side.
"The bottles were smashed, well most of them anyway, and the police put the bottles and broken pieces of glass into a bag."
