TOUCHING messages have been left for shop owners retiring after 37 years of working in Worcester.
Arboretum residents gathered at Virk's Newsagents yesterday afternoon to say thank you and goodbye to Manraj Sing Virk and Prabhjot Virk, who are leaving the convenience shop.
Readers have been leaving their own messages to the couple and wishing them all the best in their retirement.
Tony Harris shared how the couple were "very much part of the Arboretum experience" during his time living there.
Tony Harris said: "I used to live in Chestnut Street for 20 plus years, the Virks were part of the Arboretum experience.
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time living there and was sorry to leave. Virks was more than a corner shop, they were part of a living breathing community, happy retirement to you both."
The couple said that they are retiring to focus on Mrs Virk's health, and wanted to stay for longer if they could.

Shabnum Hussain echoed the comments of many readers, saying how the family "will be missed" in the area.
She said: "Lots of fond memories of living in the Arboretum and popping into the newsagents almost every day.
"Great family business - they will be missed. Enjoy your retirement, you deserve it."
Andrea Rushton was in attendance at Monday's event and reminisced about memories of the family when she was younger.
She said: "All the best Mr and Mrs Virk. I am glad I came down on Monday and wished you both all the best in your retirement.
"We have so many memories of you both and all your children from when we were kids. Go and enjoy your retirement."
Sarah Bullock said how the couple "were friends that felt like family".

She said: "How awesome this family are. I had the best times raising my two children in the Arboretum.
"They are not just shop keepers, they are friends that feel like family who always stocked up for any event and was always willing to help out and give great advice.
"You will be very much missed by all of the Arboretum community past and present. Wishing you all lots of love and luck for your future. Happy Retirement Mr and Mrs Virk."
