THE wait is over for parents and pupils at a primary school in Worcester as its new name can finally be revealed.
Dines Green Community Academy has rebranded itself as Honeywell Primary School.
The move, by the Mercian Education Trust, has been made to reflect the changing nature of the surrounding area, with more pupils coming in from new housing developments nearby.
As part of the revamp, the school's colours have changed from red to dark blue and yellow, with the bee theme running throughout the school.
The new ethos of the school is inspired by the colony of 6,000 bees which are now kept in a hive on the site.
The school's uniform has also been changed, with pupils given their new jumpers and PE kit - both with blue and yellow themes.
Daffyd Lawday, CEO of the trust, invited in dignitaries and sponsors for a look around the school, which has been substantially remodelled and redecorated over the summer months.
He thanked sponsors for their support, many of them having helped fund the new uniform and remodelling.
Headteacher Andrew Morley welcomed in guests including mayor of Worcester Cllr Adrian Gregson, saying it was a new opportunity for the school and its community.
He said: "We want this to reflect our ethos and how we want our students to be with things like compassion, respect and a sense of community.
"We want them to grow in confidence and have fun learning."
Dines Green Community Academy was formed by an amalgamation of Dines Green Junior and Infants departments back in 1983.
In 2018, Dines Green Primary joined Mercian Education Trust, which also includes Somers Park School, Great Malvern Primary and Malvern Vale Primary.
Speaking at the event, Cllr Adrian Gregson welcomed the rebrand of the school, describing it as "riding the crest of the wave" with its attitude to the environment and community.
