QUESTIONS have been raised over another plan to build 150 homes with villagers saying ‘enough is enough’.

The latest application would see the new homes built off the A38 in Kempsey near Worcester, adding to almost 200 homes planned for other parts of the village and the hundreds of homes already built in recent years.

More than 80 fed-up villagers have already come out against the latest 150-home plan saying Kempsey would not be able to cope with more people and cars.

Objecting to the plan, Dan Alderton, of Centurion Drive in Kempsey, said: “The village is already big enough and the road is busy enough. The village school is already at capacity so cannot cope with possible another large influx of children. The infrastructure in the village feels like it's already at breaking point. At what point do the council say enough is enough?”

Another objector, Tracey Manton of Bannut Hill, said: “Kempsey does not have the infrastructure to cope with the proposed increase in population. Kempsey doesn't even have a reliable bus service. Worcester is a big city with available land all around, yet Kempsey is consistently targeted. The amount of houses being built in Kempsey appears to be disproportionate to the size of the village and the surrounding Worcester area.”

Chris Worton, of Bannut Hill, also objecting to the plan, said: “The village school despite its recent extension is still oversubscribed with village children unable to secure a place. Kempsey Surgery is also full with long-standing residents now being forced to travel to Haresfield House on a far from satisfactory bus service if unable to drive.

“We may be a large village but we do not want to become a small town.”

If approved, housing association Bromford plans to build 48 homes off Broomhall Lane between Worcester and Kempsey which would sit next to 70 homes by Platform Housing, 57 homes off Brookend Lane by Richborough Estates and 30 new homes off Post Office Lane in Kempsey under plans by Lantar Developments.

You can still have your say on the plan by visiting Malvern Hills District Council’s website.

The application number is M/22/01093/OUT and consultation ends on September 23.
