He said: "There a number of things that Boris Johnson has done that I feel have benefitted the constituency.

"When he was campaigning to become the Prime Minister back in 2019, getting Brexit done was a large part of that and he managed to surprise the naysayers and get it done.

"I know that many of my constituents backed Brexit so this was of massive importance to them.

"His focus on levelling up can be seen in our Future High Streets Fund, regenerating the Scala Theatre, and the Worcester Shrub Hill regeneration.

"His leadership during the covid-19 pandemic was also a huge challenge. I admit there were mistakes made along the way, but the furlough scheme in particular helped businesses and employees make it through such a difficult time.

"Lastly, I feel his role internationally with the war in Ukraine has also been really big. Calling out Putin's illegal war for what it is, and not taking a more passive approach like France and Germany has shown real leadership."

"By introducing the Homes for Ukraine scheme also, many Worcester households have helped to house refugees during this unprecedented time."

Despite the praise for the Prime Minister, Mr Walker said he still believes that he made the right decision to step down.

He said: "He has done a lot of good during his time as Prime Minister but I still believe that he made the correct decision to step down so we can focus on the future and move forward."

Robin Walker MP previously said he is backing the former Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, to become the next leader of the Conservative Party and the new Prime Minister.
