A DRIVER had a lucky escape after their car caught fire on a busy road in Worcester this morning.
Firefighters and police were called out to the scene on the A44 near Whittington about 11.30am.
A police spokesman said the Mercedes was destroyed.
"We were called out to a car fire but nobody was in it and it was nothing suspicious," he said.
"We had to close the road off for a short time while firefighters made it safe."
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service managed to put the fire out just after noon.
