SCHOOLCHILDREN spent the day litter picking to prove they love their park'.
The pupils from St George's CE Primary School, in St George's Lane North, Barbourne, Worcester, cleaned up Gheluvelt Park on Thursday as part of the Love Your Park campaign.
Local policing officer PC Paul Green said: "We have had nothing but enthusiasm and support from the local pupils and teachers at St George's for the Love Your Park campaign.
"It is great to see youngsters caring about the area in which they live and being prepared to do their bit for the community. They are a great example."
Headteacher Steve Mills said: "As a school we are always keen to be involved in an initiative such as this. The children love this kind of activity and we are pleased to work in partnership with the police."
Love Your Park is a police- led initiative brought about through issues raised by residents at various PACT (Partners and Communities Together) events.
It aims to encourage people to respect, protect and enjoy Gheluvelt Park.
