A MAIN road in Worcester, closed earlier this morning after a major fuel spill, has reopened.
The A4440 Temeside Way was closed both ways between the Powick island and the Ketch after an accident between a cattle lorry and a car.
The accident and fuel spill caused delays between the A38 Worcester Road and A449 Malvern Road.
Major delays were also reported on Bath Road.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to the accident just before 5am today.
They reported 400 litres of diesel had been spilled on to the road surface and requested the attendance of their environmental protection unit from Stourport and the Environment Agency.
By 7am the fuel spill had been contained using absorbent materials and the road was reopened shortly after 9am.
Motorists are advised to use extreme care because the spill may have left small sections of slippery road surface.
