IT is that time of year again for beautiful babies to pose in front of the camera in the hope of being crowned Worcester News Baby of the Year 2008.

Your Worcester News has launched Baby of the Year 2008 and the search now begins to find the cutest baby in the two counties.

The mother of one of last year's winners said her daughter became famous after winning the 19-36 month category.

"Mothers and teachers came up to me and said they had seen Alexa in the paper, she became a bit of a celebrity," said Angie Evis, aged 34 of Warndon Villages, Worcester Her daughter, who is now nearly four years old, spent her winning Argos voucher on a paddling pool and a table and chairs for the garden.

Winning the youngest category was Elissia Harford, who is now 19-months-old and living with her mother Sherine Dainty in Borrowdale Drive, Brickfields, Worcester.

"She has been coming on leaps and bounds since last years competition," said Ms Dainty "It was brilliant to win, really amazing, I was over the moon."

It could not be easier to enter, all you have to do is go along to Cathedral Plaza in Worcester to the shop unit opposite the children's entrance to Next (formerly Celebrations card shop) from Monday, March 3, to Saturday March 8.

The Worcester News official photographer, BCR Photographic, will be there between 10am and 4.30pm to photograph your child for free.

Parents will then go back to choose the photo of their child they want entered to appear in a colour supplement in the Worcester News.

You can buy any or all of the photographs taken, but you are under no obligation to do so.

Readers will vote their favourites onto a shortlist before a panel of judges makes the final decision, with winners and runners-up attending a special awards presentation.

The competition will be judged in three categories: 0-9 months; 10-18 months and 19-36 months.

To enter, cut out the free entry token in your Worcester News and bring it along to the photographer.
